The first season of One Tree Hill, an American teen drama television series created by Mark Schwahn, began airing on September 23, 2003 on The WB television network. The season concluded on May 11, 2004, after 22 episodes.
The first season follows Lucas Scott, a junior, as he joins his high school basketball team and forges a relationship with his half-brother Nathan Scott, while also coming to terms with who he is and who his father, Dan, is. The season mainly explores into the boys' love lives as they form connections with characters such as Peyton Sawyer, Haley James, and Brooke Davis, while most of these kids' parents confront their own pasts in order to move on.
The DVD release of season one was released after the season has completed broadcast on television. It has been released in Regions 1, 2 and 4. As well as every episode from the season, the DVD release features bonus material such as audio commentaries on some episodes from the creator and cast, deleted scenes, gag reels and behind-the-scenes featurettes. The words \"The WB Presents\" were printed on the packaging before the \"One Tree Hill\" title, although they were not included on international releases as The WB was not the broadcaster.[21]
In response to One Tree Hill returning to conversations and being available on the Hulu platform, here are all the seasons of the show ranked from worst to best based on the crazy plotlines, new additions to the main ensemble, and for the character development throughout it all.
This season was filled with so many tragic breakups and turmoil that it was almsot too exhausting to watch. For starters, we see newly weds Nathan and Haley facing a marriage crisis when Haley decides to pursue her career in music alongside Chris Keller (Tyler Hilton), who is clearly in love with her. Despite the chance of getting back with Nathan coming up during one her shows on tour, she is simply not ready to go back to Tree Hill. This really crumbled the season for fans of the couple, because they just seemed to be at a point of no return. Another negative factor in Season 2, was Lucas moving in with Dan (Paul Johansson). Although we know his intentions are to get back at Dan for his poor parenting abilities, Lucas fractures his relationship with his mother Karen (Moira Kelly), his uncle Keith (Craig Sheffer), and even his best-friend Haley in the meantime. This only leads to more sorrow and distress in Tree Hill.
James Lafferty (who played Nathan Scott) was closest in age to his character as he was 17 when he landed the role, but his fellow cast members were all 20 or older. The series jumped ahead four years during its fifth season and featured a number of other time jumps throughout its nine seasons, which did ultimately get the cast closer in age to their characters.
During the fifth season, the series jumped ahead four years, aging Lucas up to 22. Murray was 26 at the time. He left the show before the seventh season, which jumped ahead 14 months. Both the eighth and ninth seasons featured time jumps of a year, and Murray briefly returned for the ninth and final season.
The initial premise of the series was about the rivalry between two half-brothers on and off the basketball court in Tree Hill, North Carolina, but the series grew beyond that initial premise and ran for nine seasons. The first four took place in high school, while the final five seasons took place after college. Covering so many years of drama and storytelling, it's not always easy to choose the best episodes and seasons. Below is a ranking of each season, rated from worst to best.
Season 8 of One Tree Hill is better than Season 7 because it begins to rebuild itself after the loss of the foundational relationship in Season 7. It also features Brooke's wedding, and she had been through so much over the course of the series, it was satisfying to see her get her day in the spotlight. She even ends the season pregnant, a dream she has had since the first time jump in Season 5. Despite all the ups and downs the characters go through this season, it is a season full of joy.
Season 2 is the worst season of the high school years of One Tree Hill. Nathan and Haley shockingly get married at the end of Season 1, but they then spend most of Season 2 separated while Haley is on tour. Basketball is no longer a central focus, which pulls some of the heart out of the series and makes it a bit less unique than other teen drama series. The season does have some great elements though, as it launches the nightclub that plays into the series' reputation for iconic music and big-name guest stars, as well as introducing Karen's future husband, Andy.
Despite some of the difficulties of the series' post-high school focus, the final season, Season 9, ends One Tree Hill in an enjoyable and satisfying way. Especially the finale when fans get a glimpse of Nathan and Haley's son in high school playing basketball for the Ravens, just like his father and uncle. The final season gives the characters their happy ending but also includes the specific kind of drama and wild storylines that made One Tree Hill stand out. Even Lucas returns for a bit to round out the series once and for all.
The first season is one of the best in the whole series. It becomes instantly iconic for its music and the relationship drama between the central characters. It also gives its characters room and builds a strong foundation for the series to come. Nathan starts off as a real jerk, but he grows into a lovable softie, and Brooke starts off as a vapid party girl but grows into someone much more interesting than that. The first season really set the standard for the rest of the series.
Season 3 of One Tree Hill is one of the most heartbreaking of the whole series. The absolutely iconic school shooting story arc that includes the tragic murder of Uncle Keith at the hands of his brother, Dan, helps to elevate the season above the others. It also features some happier moments with Nathan and Haley's vow renewals, and the arrival of Rachel brings the drama to a whole new level. The third season has all the best pieces of the series as a whole, and that's why it's the second-best in the series.
There are a few reasons Season 4 is the best of One Tree Hill. The Ravens finally win the championship, and during that game, Lucas gives a truly stunning and quintessential declaration to Peyton. After years of them going back and forth in their relationship, they finally get together for real beneath a downpour of confetti; plus, they receive Brooke's blessing. In a lot of ways, it would have been really satisfying for the entire series to have ended with the Season 4 finale. While fans were glad that it didn't end here, and they got to spend more time with their favorite characters, there's something so satisfying about every episode in this season that makes it the best in the entire series.
By contrast, Antwon Tanner, who plays Skills from Season 1 onward, was around 27 years old at the time of filming for the inaugural season. You wouldn't know it by looking at him, though, as he appears to be on par with James in terms of how old they appear in Season 1.
Plus, the young stars of the series apparently had a hard time getting the hang of filming, as seasoned crew members showed their impatience with the rookies at every step of the way. The ladies also point out the cultural significance of One Tree Hill as a whole and even for the most casual fan, the podcast is pretty nostalgic.
I do love Nathan and Haley, or at least most of their stuff. Really, this should just be the Haley show. She's wonderful. But again, they got MARRIED at the end of the season. They're high school juniors and they got MARRIED THEY GOT MARRIED I sent many texts to my friend that were basically just those words, over and over again. They got married AND HER PARENTS APPROVED OF IT THIS was the best solution to 17-year-old Haley feeling insecure in her relationship
She returned in season two, saying she had earned custody of Jenny through a trial which Jake did not attend because he was in hiding. When Jake refused to give Jenny to her and turned himself in to the police because there was a warrant out for his arrest, she still managed to locate her and take her away. Jake then chased after her.
The grittier storylines, as well as the departure of some of the main characters in later years, may not appeal to fans of the show's earlier seasons. But One Tree Hill still has the potential to appeal to a new generation of teens. As a result, parents may want to consider tuning in with them -- and using some of the topics for a conversation starter.
Haley paces, checking her watch. She paces out of the screen, and we see Lucas walking up the street to the theater. A van pulls up behind him. Two teammates run up behind Lucas as he turns toward the van. They grab him, force him into the van and drive off. 59ce067264
